AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER To Sing THE BEATLES At KENNEDY CENTER HONORS
December 2, 2010AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler will reportedly perform the last four songs of THE BEATLES' "Abbey Road" for honoree Paul McCartney at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors in Washington on Sunday, December 5.
The Kennedy Center Honors recognize performing artists for their contributions to American culture. Winners are selected by the Kennedy Center's Board of Trustees.
McCartney had been named to receive the Kennedy Center Honors in 2002 but backed out because of a personal obligation.
Other recipients to be honored at the 33rd annual national celebration of the arts are: singer and songwriter Merle Haggard; composer and lyricist Jerry Herman; dancer, choreographer and director Bill T. Jones; and producer, television host and actress Oprah Winfrey.
"The Kennedy Center celebrates five individuals who have spent their lives enriching, inspiring and elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world," said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein.
The gala will be recorded for broadcast as a two-hour prime-time special on CBS on December 28, 2010 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
